Howard -- BKX Secretary
I'm Howard Jacques the current Secretary for BK Eng X. I joined the Prison Service in 1993 at HMP Woodhill, Milton Keynes, then left on transfer in Sept 2003 to go to HMP Whitemoor Cambridgeshire, where I became a dog handler for the next 20 yrs. I worked both German Shepherd patrol dogs and Active Drug search dogs and took on the role of trainer for 12 of those years. I finally retired in September 2023. I passed my bike test in 2019 at the ripe old age of 53 and became a member of BK X in 2020 and so far have owned 2 Triumph Tiger 800's and currently ride a new Tiger 900 GT Pro. In my short time riding I have travelled all over the UK and many trips throughout Europe, with hopefully many more to come. As a result of all the help, advice and definitely the patience of many of our chapter members I have so far completed a Bike Safe course and passed my RoSPA advanced with a Gold award, a real testament to how much our members do for each other. Currently I now work as a CBT instructor. I took on the role of chapter Secretary in 2024 and it has been so rewarding to see our membership numbers grow every year, both serving and retired, male and female and all ages but all with the same views, to make friends and have fun. Learning to ride a bike and joining Blue Knights has most definitely changed my life in having adventures and meeting people who have become friends for life.

I Left the RAF in 1994 after 14 years service to join the Prison Service at HMP Littlehey. At this time the population consisted of roughly 740 prisoners made up of a 40/60 mix of general population and sex offenders. In 1995 I joined Cambridgeshire Special Constabulary as a Special Constable and then as a Section Officer for Ramsey and St Ives. I was also responsible for what was Central Division Recruitment for Specials. I left this around 2003 to concentrate on my Prison Service career. I then specialised in the delivery of Offending Behaviour Programmes about the same time moving from Facilitator to Treatment Manager then to Programme Manager. I then worked for 4 years with young offenders both as a discipline officer and as a Treatment Manager. When the prison was re rolled in 2014 to all Sex Offenders with a capacity of 1200, I completed another spell as Programme Manager before moving on to Head of Learning and Skills then finishing my last year as Head of Reducing Reoffending. I retired from HMP Service in 2020. I have 2 daughters and now live happily in my cottage in Norfolk. I first joined the Blue Knights in 2007 and then rejoined in 2024. I am currently the chapter Treasurer and I ride a 2023 Triumph Speedmaster 1200 chrome. In my opinion the club is currently the best it has ever been with great members who are always friendly and supportive.

Although my name is Simon I am known as Sid, a nickname I earned in the police. I have been a member on BK10 since 2023, so I am quite new. I am the webmaster for the chapter and keep this site up to date when I can. I was in the RAF for twelve years and the joined Norfolk Constabulary, I retired after nearly 20 years with Norfolk, but I am still involved as I volunteer with Norfolk Special Constabulary as a trainer for new student officers. My main ride is a Yamaha Tracer 7, but I also have a 2003 Triumph Speed Master, 1978 Honda 250T Dream (not the Superdream!!!!) and a little Suzuki AP50 in bits waiting for me to get the enthusiasm to rebuild it. I joined the Blue Knights as my riding friends circle got smaller; I was searching for some like minded people who I can ride with and understand me, I found BK10 on an internet search. BK is a great group, very relaxed, no pressure, you do what you want to do, it’s something I am glad I joined and look forward to the outings we have. I couldn’t recommend it more.

I’m a former RAF Policeman having served for 24 years and 10 months. When I retired from the military in 2008, I went to college and completed a foundation degree course in Ecology and Conservation management. I started working for the National Trust at Blickling Hall, where I stayed for 12 years before retiring fully. I’ve had a few bikes over the years, starting with a Suzuki GSX400F not long after I passed my test. There’s also been a Suzuki GS750; a Yamaha 650 turbo; Honda CBX 750; Honda CBX 1000 (wish I still had it!); Honda XL1000V Varadero; Honda CBR 1100 Blackbird. I currently ride, after a good few year’s break, a 2007 BMW GS1200. I have completed the standard course with Essex Police, the Advanced, the Advanced Instructors and the Security Escort course with Lancashire.
